California Radio Control Jet Association

About our Club And Web site

The CRCJA was formed in 1992 when 10 members where attending the Arizona Jet rally where crammed in a hotel room in Arizona. They noticed that close to half of the entrants where from California and Decided to do write down phone numbers and make a club back in California. That same year was also the first time in 6 years, that the annual "Best in the West" was not held. The Edward's Air Force Base dry lake bed condition and interest had basically vanish with the wind. Some of those people stuck in that Hotel room in Arizona where also the backbone of Best in the West, and they wanted it back.

Our club is now seven years old and with close to 100 members. We at CRCJA are on our fourth year to Bring back the Best in the West. We our an Association dedicated to Keeping and promoting the flying of Ducted Fan and Turbine R.C. aircraft in California. Our fields are few and far in between and half of those, do no like ducted fans or the facility is just inadequate for such aircraft.

We try to stay out of regular club politics, but once in a while someone must make decisions. In order to make sure important decision are made wisely, we rely on our Committee and any issue goes by a general vote by the Committee or the Membership as a whole. We do have a Club President, and cabinet to keep our club running smoothly. We have a bi-monthly newsletter, FANTALK, which keeps getting better every month.

The CRCJA Web site is here to promote the flying of Ducted Fan and Turbine powered Radio Controlled Jets. Our field, well we are a state wide club so there is no official field we fly everywhere. Our Southern California site is Rabbit Dry Lake and Prado field in chino. Northern California for the most part meet at Woodland Davis. The content of the site greatly depends on input and contributions by our members and visitors to our sites as well. We look forward to kit reviews, stories, tips, photos, etc. so that they may be added to the site for everyone's enjoyment.

If you have recently finished a new plane, tell us about it! What did you think of the kit? How does it fly? If you have photos of your project, send them along too! We'll add them to our on line photo gallery. Building tips, unique tools or products that you've found, crash stories (we'll take successful flight stories too)---send them in! Every little bit will help make this web site informative and interesting.

Emailed text contributions can be sent within the email (cut and paste) or attached as unformatted text (or formatted for MS Word, WordPerfect, or Windows Write). Digitized photos and other graphics can be attached to email too. They need to be .gif or .jpg format for the web, then I can convert and enhance just about anything. Hard copy contributions are fine too, and will be promptly returned as requested. I can color scan prints, slides and negatives.

I can be reached by email : CRCJA@aol.com
