The latest rage for us modelers for the last 7 or so years have been miniature Turbines. These are Real working turbine engines in the simplest form.
Single stage Axial flow for the most part. In the word of John Redman of jet Cat turbines, All our toys do is SUCK, COMPRESS, BURN and BLOW.
Our model turbines Suck the Air in, compress it a little, burn it up with fuel in the combustion chanber and then blow it out to create Thrust.
First we have one of the turbines with the outer case removed, so that you can see some of the internals.
